West Street Apartments is a new 42-unit building in the Scenic & Historic District of Downtown Utica, New York.  The design elements reflect a present-day interpretation of the Italianate architectural style, drawing from historic elements of period buildings in the neighborhood: Brick masonry, horizontal lapped siding, vertical corner boards, tall and narrow single and paired hung windows, deep roof overhangs, low-sloped (flat) roofs, and covered entry areas.  The length of the building is articulated with vertical slots that give the appearance of multiple attached row house type buildings.
